Coinbase announces launch of NFT marketplace

Nasdaq-listed bitcoin exchange Coinbase has announced the creation of a platform for non-exchangeable tokens (NFT).
According to the announcement, Coinbase NFT will enable users to issue, buy and display collectible digital assets.

Initially, the marketplace will support Ethereum-based ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens. The company plans to add other networks in the future.

Coinbase described the future NFT platform as a "peer-to-peer trading platform".

The company has opened a waiting list for early access to the service.

"Buying and selling will be the core functions of Coinbase NFT. We will have a dynamic, secure marketplace. But we believe we can do much more. We are designing social relationships. By strengthening connections, the platform will help authors, collectors and fans build a community," Coinbase said.

Recall that analysts at financial conglomerate Bank of America were optimistic about the prospects for the NFT sector, while China's state media warned of a potential bubble in the segment.
